AO Smith painted motors can replace most boat hoist motors. These motors are either 48 frame for pwc hoists and 56 frame for boat hoists. These motors are 1725 RPM, reversible and have a 1 year warranty. The 1/2HP 48 frame and the 3/4HP 48 frame motors are 110V only, while the other motors may be wired for 110V or 220V operation. The motors are TENV (Totally Enclosed Non-Venting) so that dirt dobbers and other pests cannot nest inside the motor. These motors do not come with wiring or a pulley.

Before buying a motor:

1. Check motor horsepower and frame size (see pictures left).
2. Check motor manufacturer.
3. See Wire Size Chart (below, on the left) to ensure proper wire size.
4. See wiring diagrams (below, on the left) to connect AO Smith motors to factory Aqua Marine wire harnesses to ensure proper wiring.
5. Ensure that the capacitor (the large box on top of the motor) is in the same position as the motor that you are replacing to prevent problems with mounting.
6. Make sure that the motor that you purchase can be used with the voltage at your lift (115V/230V).
